HUH? What's This All About?

So glad you asked!

What you're looking at here is my humble attempt at creating a website for one of my favorite TV series -- M*A*S*H. This is my first web design effort, and no I don't have "mad HTML skillz," but we all have to start somewhere, right?

I've started off small, as you can see. So far the site contains only the fan fiction I've written and a M*A*S*H links page. But there are plans for future expansion.

If you're at all familiar with the series, you're probably thinking, "But isn't M*A*S*H about doctors and nurses in Korea? What's this 'priest' angle?" A reasonable question that has, perhaps, a less-than-reasonable answer.

Though I love all the characters on the show, the one for whom I have the greatest fondness is Father Francis Mulcahy, the unit's chaplain. This preference seems to place me solidly in the minority among the general population of M*A*S*H fans, but there you have it. One can't always choose one's obsessions.

Thus, this site came about because I've heard the praises of Hawkeye and various others sung in countless venues 'round the web, but only rarely does Mulcahy get the recognition I think he deserves. When he's mentioned at all. So to give fair warning, more than a hint of authorial bias will be noticeable within these pages. :)

If you're curious, the site's name was derived from this quote from William Christopher, the actor who played Mulcahy: "I always thought that M*A*S*H was about a chaplain in the Korean War, and Burt [Metcalfe, producer,] had to keep reminding me that it wasn't...." [The Complete Book of M*A*S*H, by Suzy Kalter (Abradale Press, 1984).]
